A report has revealed that the Afghan Taliban has offered to play the role of trouble-shooters, bridge-builders and problem-solvers in the conflict-torn nation.

According to The Express Tribune, a statement released by the militant outfit addressing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leaders ahead of a summit said that the Taliban wants to play "a central role" in providing solutions to the problems faced by Afghanistan. They are also willing to have an "Afghan inclusive" system at the centre that will unite all Afghans.

The Nato summit that is scheduled to take place in Wales this week will focus primarily on the Afghan exit strategy.

The Nato forces have been combating the Taliban ever since the United States-led invasion in 2011.

The militant group has always adopted a tough stance against the foreign military alliance. However, their recent statement marks a shift in their approach.
