Director of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRI) A.B. Ota, has said that the annual tribal fair is aimed at offering an integrated platform to tribals from Odisha to help them exhibit and promote their culture, art, crafts and lifestyle.

"If we bring all the 62 tribal communities under one umbrella during the specific period of a month during a year, people will get an opportunity to have a look at their culture, to have an interface with them, to see their cultural festivities and also can access various kinds of tribal products that is very rarely available in urban areas," he said.

Scores of persons had thronged the tribal fair, which was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik earlier on Monday.
In order to give the visitors an authentic experience of tribal lifestyle, a village has been recreated with distinctive tribal patterns on the walls of houses.
