Auto shares jump
Auto stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Auto index rising 226.97 points or 1.79% at 12936.94 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Bajaj Auto Ltd (up 4.61%), Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (up 3.9%),Exide Industries Ltd (up 3.38%),Hero MotoCorp Ltd (up 3.33%),TVS Motor Company Ltd (up 2.77%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Balkrishna Industries Ltd (up 2.44%), Apollo Tyres Ltd (up 1.6%), Cummins India Ltd (up 1.4%), Eicher Motors Ltd (up 1.26%), and Tata Motors Ltd (up 1.14%).
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (down 0.42%), moved lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 159.55 or 0.52% at 30978.16.
The Nifty 50 index was up 46.25 points or 0.51% at 9112.8.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 101.28 points or 0.97% at 10573.65.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 43.04 points or 1.16% at 3758.17.
On BSE,962 shares were trading in green, 383 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
