Bharat Heavy Electricals rose 2.02% to Rs 252.85 at 13:30 IST on BSE after the company announced successful commissioning of the 500 megawatts Kosti Thermal Power Station in Sudan.
The company made announcement during trading hours today, 1 July 2015.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 234.59 points, or 0.84%, to 28,015.42.
On BSE, so far 1.07 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 5.66 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 255.40 and low of Rs 247.50 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 299.50 on 4 February 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 195.10 on 10 July 2014.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 30 June 2015, falling 1.49% compared with 0.17% fall in the Sensex. The scrip had however outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 3.88% as against Sensex's 0.7% decline.
The large-cap electric equipment maker has an equity capital of Rs 489.52 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.
Significantly, Kosti Thermal Power Station (TPS) (4x125 megawatts) is now Sudan's largest Power Plant, Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) said. Notably, Kosti TPS is Bhel's largest oil fired thermal power plant in the overseas market. Bhel has executed this project on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis. The project is funded by Government of India's line of credit of $350 million.
Bhel's net profit fell 51.8% to Rs 888.35 crore on 17.1% decline in total income to Rs 12702.05 crore in Q4 March 2015 over Q4 March 2014.
