DLF inches up on bargain hunting amid volatility

DLF rose 0.74% to Rs 142.85 at 10:27 IST on BSE, with the stock recovering after 2-day 17.26% slide.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 77.68 points or 0.39% at 19,978.64.

On BSE, 3.84 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 12.57 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock was volatile. The stock rose as much as 2.53% at the day's high of Rs 145.40 so far during the day. The stock lost as much as 0.91% at the day's low of Rs 140.50 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 289.20 on 12 March 2013. The stock had hit a record low of Rs 120.25 on 6 August 2013.

 

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 23 September 2013, rising 3.47% compared with the Sensex's 7.46% surge. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, declining 18.97% as against Sensex's 6% gain.

The large-cap real estate firm has equity capital of Rs 356.16 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.

Shares of DLF had declined 17.26% in two trading sessions to settle at Rs 141.80 on Monday, 23 September 2013, from a recent high of Rs 171.40 on 19 September 2013.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in a surprise decision, raised its key policy rate viz. the repo rate by 25 basis points (bps) to 7.5% from 7.25% after a monetary policy review on 20 September 2013.

Purchases of both residential and commercial property are largely driven by finance.

DLF's consolidated net profit declined 38.1% to Rs 181.19 crore on 5.3% growth in net sales to Rs 2314.08 crore in Q1 June 2013 over Q1 June 2012.

DLF's primary business is development of residential, commercial and retail properties. The company has a unique business model with earnings arising from development and rentals.
