Energy shares gain

Energy stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 34.59 points or 0.66% at 5253.12 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 1.86%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 1.67%),Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (up 1.3%),Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 1.11%),Adani Gas Ltd (up 1.01%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.9%), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 0.86%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 0.73%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 0.72%), and Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.7%).

On the other hand, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (down 2.96%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 2.12%), and Castrol India Ltd (down 1%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 173.52 or 0.43% at 40413.4.

The Nifty 50 index was up 38.95 points or 0.33% at 11895.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 26.29 points or 0.2% at 13171.56.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 14.83 points or 0.32% at 4624.34.

On BSE,708 shares were trading in green, 595 were trading in red and 83 were unchanged.
