Energy shares fall

Energy stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 23.83 points or 0.46% at 5174.29 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 1.64%), Reliance Industries Ltd (down 0.82%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 0.43%),Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (down 0.39%),Castrol India Ltd (down 0.36%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 0.11%), and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (down 0.03%).

On the other hand, Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 3.74%), Aban Offshore Ltd (up 3.73%), and Deep Industries Ltd (up 2.89%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 242.96 or 0.61% at 40294.83.

The Nifty 50 index was up 68.7 points or 0.58% at 11912.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 125.25 points or 0.93% at 13556.7.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 61.4 points or 1.33% at 4681.27.

On BSE,1424 shares were trading in green, 949 were trading in red and 122 were unchanged.
