Net inflow of Rs 1281.39 crore on 12 August 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) extended buying spree for the 26th session. FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 1281.39 crore from the secondary equity market on 12 August 2016, compared with their purchases of Rs 638.99 crore during the preceding trading session on 11 August 2016. The stock market was closed yesterday, 15 August 2016, for a holiday. The net inflow of Rs 1281.39 crore on 12 August 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5769.24 crore and gross sales of Rs 4487.85 crore. On that day, the Sensex gained 292.80 points or 1.05% to settle at 28,152.40, its highest closing level since 8 August 2016.
There was a net outflow of Rs 8.46 crore from FPIs from the 'primary market & others' category on 12 August 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.06 crore and gross sales of Rs 8.52 crore.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 6766.04 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 12 August 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 12068.52 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 37070.54 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 12 August 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net outflow of Rs 79.78 crore from FPIs from the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 12 August 2016). There was a net inflow of Rs 543.30 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 1394.13 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 12 August 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
