Healthcare stocks rise
Healthcare stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Healthcare index increasing 260.27 points or 1.75% at 15163.35 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Healthcare index, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd (up 10%), Morepen Laboratories Ltd (up 9.86%),Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd (up 5.67%),Marksans Pharma Ltd (up 5.34%),Opto Circuits (India) Ltd (up 4.83%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vimta Labs Ltd (up 4.47%), Cadila Healthcare Ltd (up 3.86%), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd (up 3.14%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd (up 3.02%), and Dr Reddys Laboratories Ltd (up 2.95%).
On the other hand, Gufic BioSciences Ltd (down 7.81%), Vivimed Labs Ltd (down 4.96%), and Kilitch Drugs (India) Ltd (down 4.92%) turned lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 824.97 or 2.61% at 30823.03.
The Nifty 50 index was down 238.35 points or 2.57% at 9023.5.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 224.28 points or 2.06% at 10662.63.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 82.66 points or 2.17% at 3729.25.
On BSE,448 shares were trading in green, 1164 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
