India's crude oil refinery output rises 2.2% in August 2017

Crude oil refinery output moves up 0.9% in April-August 2017
India's crude oil refinery output increased 2.2% to 20.19 mt in August 2017 over August 2016. The output of public sector refineries rose 3.1% to 10.54 mt, while the output of private refineries moved up 2.6% to 8.30 mt. The refinery output of public-private JV refiners declined 6.7% to 1.35 mt in August 2017.Among public refineries, the output of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation increased 32.1% to 1.49 mt, while the output of Indian Oil Corporation moved up 6.0% to 4.91 mt, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation 2.9% to 2.12 mt in August 2017 over August 2016. However, the output of Numaligarh Refineries declined 3.1% to 0.22 mt, Chennai Petroleum Corporation 7.0% to 0.86 mt and Mangalore Refineries 24.5% to 0.95 mt in August 2017.
Among private refiners, the output of Reliance Petroleum rose 2.8% to 6.57 mt, while that of Essar Oil moved up 1.9% to 1.73 mt in August 2017 over August 2016. Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman declined 2.2% to 0.56 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal dipped 9.6% to 0.79 mt in August 2016.
The cumulative refinery output rose 0.9% to 100.03 mt in April-August 2017. The output of public refineries increased 4.8% to 55.52 mt, while that of private refineries moved up 1.8% to 40.00 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries fell 34.7% to 4.51 mt in April-August 2017. Among public refineries, the output of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation improved 8.8%, Indian Oil Corporation 6.2%, Bharat Petroleum Corporation 5.2%, Numaligarh Refineries 5.1% and Mangalore Refineries 0.3%, but that of Chennai Petroleum Corporation declined 4.2%.
The overall capacity utilization was lower at 102.9% in August 2017 compared with 104.1% in August 2016, while it was down at 103.9% in April-August 2017 compared with 105.5% in April-August 2016.
