Market opens on a firm note

Trading for Samvat 2075 began on a firm note. At 17:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 233.34 points or 0.67% at 35,225.25. The Nifty 50 index was up 66.35 points or 0.63% at 10,596.35.

The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was up 0.75%. The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 1.03%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was strong. On the BSE, 1712 shares rose and 335 shares fell. A total of 88 shares were unchanged.

M&M (up 2%), Tata Motors (up 1.4%), Vedanta (up 1.28%), Infosys (up 1.25%) and Yes Bank (up 1%) edged higher from the Sensex pack.

 

Domestic stock markets are open for special Muhurat trading session today, 7 November 2018 between 17:15 IST and 18:30 IST. Stock markets will remain shut tomorrow, 8 November 2018 on account of Diwali Balipratipada.
