Turnover on NSE's F&O segment rises
The March 2016 futures on the 50-unit Nifty 50 index traded at 7606, near Nifty's closing of 7,604.35 in the cash market. The Nifty April 2016 futures traded at 7645.50, a premium of 41.15 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) futures and options (F&O) totaled Rs 3.06 lakh crore, higher than turnover of Rs 2.89 lakh crore registered during the previous trading session.
In the cash market, the Nifty rose 91.80 points or 1.22% to settle at 7,604.35, its highest closing level since 6 January 2016.
Lupin, State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Steel, Yes Bank and ICICI Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts on the futures & options (F&O) segment of NSE. Lupin March 2016 futures traded at 1564, at a premium over spot closing of 1558.60. SBI March 2016 futures traded at 191.30, at a discount compared with spot closing of 191.50. Tata Steel March 2016 futures traded at 303, at a premium over spot closing of 302.35.
Yes Bank March 2016 futures traded at 818.90, at a premium over spot closing of 816. ICICI Bank March 2016 futures traded at 230.35, at a premium over spot closing of 229.90.
The March 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 31 March 2016. The April 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 28 April 2016.
