Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index gains 1.67%

Nifty Metal index closed up 1.67% at 4744 today. The index has slipped 9.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Hindalco Industries Ltd added 4.12%, Hindustan Copper Ltd jumped 3.38% and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd rose 3.27%. The Nifty Metal index has fallen 10.00% over last one year compared to the 0.22% increase in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Auto index gained 1.25% and Nifty Energy index increased 0.99% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 0.11% to close at 15850.2 while the SENSEX recorded a gain of 0.03% to close at 53177.45 today.
