Quick Wrap: Nifty PSU Bank Index rises 5.58%, NIFTY jumps 1.54%

Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 5.58% at 2819.2 today. The index is down 8.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Union Bank of India added 9.05%, Canara Bank rose 7.65% and Indian Bank gained 7.29%. The Nifty PSU Bank index is down 9.00% over last one year compared to the 4.42% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Media index added 5.50% and Nifty Realty index increased 4.20% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 increased 1.54% to close at 10460.1 while the SENSEX recorded a gain of 1.35% to close at 34760.89 today.
