Telecom stocks edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 11.93 points or 1.19% at 1010.87 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, OnMobile Global Ltd (up 4.4%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 3.43%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 3.15%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.76%),Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (up 0.8%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.37%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 0.31%), and Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.17%).
On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 4.35%), Reliance Communications Ltd (down 1.35%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.17%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 42.87 or 0.11% at 39255.51.
The Nifty 50 index was up 11.85 points or 0.1% at 11673.7.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 60.5 points or 0.46% at 13187.33.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 21.12 points or 0.47% at 4524.72.
On BSE,968 shares were trading in green, 546 were trading in red and 106 were unchanged.
