Telecom shares fall

Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 4.04 points or 0.41% at 993.05 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 4.27%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.08%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 3.04%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 0.96%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.34%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.04%), were the top losers.

On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.74%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.42%), and ITI Ltd (up 0.49%) moved up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 328.78 or 0.85% at 38927.77.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 71.9 points or 0.63% at 11535.9.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 69.6 points or 0.54% at 12869.52.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 40.09 points or 0.92% at 4399.69.

On BSE,1185 shares were trading in green, 1087 were trading in red and 192 were unchanged.
