Telecom shares edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 7 points or 0.78% at 905.78 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 4.76%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 3.45%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 3.2%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 3.12%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.74%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 0.63%), and Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (up 0.28%).
On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 10.21%), ITI Ltd (down 2.71%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 2.19%) moved lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 141.38 or 0.38% at 37814.69.
The Nifty 50 index was up 20.5 points or 0.18% at 11195.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 25.27 points or 0.2% at 12783.39.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 7.77 points or 0.18% at 4308.49.
On BSE,653 shares were trading in green, 773 were trading in red and 89 were unchanged.
