Utilties stocks rise

Utilties stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Utilities index increasing 26.09 points or 1.84% at 1441.86 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.97%), Va Tech Wabag Ltd (up 4.97%),Reliance Power Ltd (up 4.6%),NHPC Ltd (up 4.43%),NLC India Ltd (up 3.83%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Torrent Power Ltd (up 3.55%), GAIL (India) Ltd (up 2.48%), CESC Ltd (up 2.46%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd (up 2.15%), and Tata Power Company Ltd (up 2.11%).

On the other hand, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 2.74%), GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.14%), and A2Z Infra Engineering Ltd (down 1.3%) turned lower.

 

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 298.82 or 0.93% at 32413.34.

The Nifty 50 index was up 77.55 points or 0.83% at 9458.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 85.9 points or 0.79% at 10948.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 33.58 points or 0.88% at 3849.13.

On BSE,953 shares were trading in green, 492 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
