Utilties stocks slide

Utilties stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Utilities index decreasing 28.67 points or 1.53% at 1846.27 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 4.65%), NTPC Ltd (down 4.05%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (down 2.29%),Reliance Power Ltd (down 1.9%),NLC India Ltd (down 1.89%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (down 1.36%), Va Tech Wabag Ltd (down 1.05%), Rattanindia Power Ltd (down 1.01%), GE T&D India Ltd (down 0.93%), and SJVN Ltd (down 0.75%).

On the other hand, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.87%), GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.62%), and Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (up 1.54%) turned up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 127.85 or 0.31% at 41195.96.

The Nifty 50 index was down 40.7 points or 0.33% at 12129.15.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 20.67 points or 0.14% at 14672.43.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 1.97 points or 0.04% at 5016.79.

On BSE,1079 shares were trading in green, 1255 were trading in red and 163 were unchanged.
