Air India sends rescue aircraft to Tunisia

IANS New Delhi

National passenger carrier Air India Tuesday operated a special relief flight to Tunisia to evacuate Indians fleeing from the on-going fighting in the region.

According to the airline, it operated a New Delhi-Djerba flight to evacuate Indians who have come from neighbouring Libya which has plunged into civil strife.

The national passenger carrier operated a Boeing 777-200LR jumbo jet aircraft with a seating capacity of 238 passengers to Djerba.

"Air India has always risen in the hour of need to the nation. Today also Air India operated the relief flight to meet the requirement of the government to bring home Indian expatriates stranded in Libya," the airline said.
