BJD wins civic polls in Odisha

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Wednesday won civic body elections in two Odisha towns.

Of 15 wards in the notified area council of Titilagarh in Bolangir district, about 330 km from here, the BJD won 14, an official told IANS. The remaining one seat went to the Congress.

Similarly, the ruling party won 15 of 21 wards in the municipality at the district headquarters town of Bolangir.

The Congress won four wards. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Independent got one ward each.

Bolangir is the home town of state BJP president K.V. Singh Deo.

Elections to the two civic bodies were held Tuesday.
