Bombay HC: Air India's ticketing migration to Travelport challenged

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in Bombay High Court, challenging Air India's move to migrate its complete reservation system data to platform.

The petition contends that the "reckless and insane" move would severely undermine the troubled national carrier's revival plans, besides having severe ramifications for the Indian aviation industry.

Filed on November 30 by a Nashik-based activist and a frequent flyer Ratan Luth, the is expected to come up for hearing on December 5.

Luth has already written to AI CMD and other top officials, besides the Agents Association of India, Agents Federation of and Air Passengers Association of India, warning of an 'impending disaster' that could be detrimental to all stakeholders.

He pointed out that the of Travelport is a of IndiGo and being the exclusive distribution platform of AI, it would have access to sensitive business data related to AI's passengers and booking sources.

In India, Travelport is managed by (ITQ), which is part of the which owns IndiGo Airlines, and the of is on the board of IndiGo, which is a strong rival of AI with an estimated market share of 43 per cent.
