Chinese actor held for sex with prostitute

A popular Chinese actor has been detained after being caught having sex with a prostitute, police said Friday.

According to the Beijing police, they had placed Huang Haibo, 38, in "administrative detention" after getting a tip-off and catching Huang with the prostitute in a hotel in the capital city Thursday evening, Xinhua reported.

Huang, leading actor in a number of popular TV series, including "A Beautiful Daughter-in-law Era," a comedy about a modern Chinese couple, confessed to the illegal act, police said.

Prostitution is illegal in China.
