Foggy Saturday in Delhi, similar weather likely Sunday

Delhi experienced a chilly Saturday as the maximum temperature settled a notch below the season's average at 19.2 degrees Celsius while fog continued to affect the movement of trains.

Similar weather is in store for Sunday, the Met office said.

The visibility in Delhi dropped to 700 metres at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

"There will be dense fog tomorrow (Sunday) morning, but the day will be mainly clear. Fog will return in the evening," said an official with the India Meteorological Department.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 19 and 4 degrees Celsius Sunday.

Saturday morning was chilly and the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average. The day's maximum humidity was recorded at 100 percent.

 

Friday's maximum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season's average, while the minimum temperature was 6.3 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.

Northern Railway, meanwhile, said a total of 68 trains were affected due to dense fog. While 36 trains arriving in the city were delayed, the departure time of 27 had to be rescheduled and another five were cancelled.
