French woman kidnapped in Yemen's capital

A French woman was kidnapped along with her bodyguards in Yemen's capital Sanaa Tuesday, an interior ministry official told Xinhua news agency.

The woman is believed to be working for the French oil company TOTAL, the official said.

Foreigners, especially people from western countries, are frequently kidnapped by Al Qaeda militants and tribesmen in Yemen. Most of the hostages were released after ransoms were paid.
