Himachal sees hot weather, Shimla at 29.6 degrees Celsius

Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather on Monday with the temperature in some parts touching over 40 degrees Celsius and the state capital Shimla recording a high of 29.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above average.

"Temperature continued to remain high in the state. The maximum temperature increased by two to three degrees in the past 24 hours, while the minimum by one to two degrees," Manmohan Singh, director of the Meteorological Office here, told IANS.

He said Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest in the state with a high of 42.2 degrees Celsius followed by Kangra town at 40.4 degrees Celsius.

 

The state capital witnessed a low of 21.5 degrees Celsius.

Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded a maximum of 37.3 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar in Kullu district recorded 37 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius.

The Met department said there are chances of rain or thundershowers across the state from June 6 to 8.
