Indian Aces down Singapore Slammers 27-22 in IPTL

Defending champions Indian Aces defeated Singapore Slammers 27-22 in an International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) here on Friday.

The match was evenly contested till the fourth set, with the two teams claiming two a sets apiece.

Carlos Moya gave Slammers a game lead winning 6-5 against Fabrice Santoro in the legends match. It was a thrilling encounter that was tied 5-5. Moya then unleashed an unstoppable winner to won it for Slammers.

Karolina Pliskova then extended the lead to three games, downing Samantha Stosur 6-4 in the women's singles.

Aces then hit back, claiming the men's doubles match when Rohan Bopanna and Ivan Dodig beat Belinda Bencic and Marcelo Melo 6-4.

 

The mixed doubles pairing Sania Mirza and Bopanna then put Aces ahead by twos games, with a 6-3 win over Bencic and Melo.

Slammers' Nick Kyrgios needed to win the men's singles match by atleast a three-game margin to win the contest for his team.

The match saw plenty of lobs and leaps with Kyrgios determined not to let any shot pass him through.

But he eventually went down 3-6 against Dodig.
