Jammu road accident toll rises to 11

The toll in the road accident in Reasi district of Jammu region Friday evening rose to 11 while 16 injured are receiving treatment.

A senior police officer told IANS that 11 passengers died when the driver of a mini-bus going from Reasi town to Panasa village lost control at Panasa Galli, 15 km from Reasi town, and rolled down into a 300-foot deep gorge.

Reasi is 68 km from Jammu.

The officer said, "Two critically injured passengers have been shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment while 14 others are being treated at the Reasi district hospital."

 

The officer said relief and rescue would resume Saturday morning as darkness set in the area.

Sources told IANS the mini-bus was overloaded when the accident occurred.
