A court here on Friday sentenced three convicted of raping a 20-year-old old Japanese woman in February to 20 years jail.

Three others convicted of harbouring the rapists were sentenced to two years jail each while three others were acquitted.

"The additional district and sessions court here has sentenced main accused Ajit Singh Chaudhary and to two co-accused Wahid and Abrar to 20 years imprisonment on charges of gang rape and two years jail term each to Ramveer, Shivraj and Ramraj for harbouring offenders in the case, while other three other accused - Dharamveer, Rajveer and Ravinder - were acquitted by the court," Special Public Prosecutor B.S. Chouhan told IANS.

The incident had occurred on February 8 and the complaint was filed by the tourist on Feb 9 in Dudu police station, over 60 km from here.

Chaudhury, presenting himself as a tourist guide, offered to show the woman around. After visiting a few places, he took her to a secluded place and raped her, police said.

In all, charges were framed against nine people. Chaudhury, 24, had surrendered to police on Feb 13 and was arrested on the same day.
