Modi pays tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru, on his martyrdom day.
Modi also greeted people on the birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan of Ahom kingdom.
"I bow to Guru Teg Bahadur on his martyrdom day. He was blessed with courage and the commitment to serve society. He continues to inspire," Modi said in a statement.
Born in 1621, Guru Teg Bahadur was martyred in 1675 in Delhi.
The prime minister also greeted people on the birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan, a commander of the army of the Ahom kingdom in modern-day Assam, remembered for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of Saraighat against the Mughals.
"On his birth anniversary, I salute Lachit Borphukan. He is India's pride and his valour during Saraighat war can never be forgotten," the prime minister said.
