India opener Murali Vijay was fined 30 percent of his match fee for "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" in the ongoing fourth and final Test against South Africa on Sunday.

Vijay was punished for breaching Level 1 of the International Cricket Council's (IIC) Code of Conduct during day three of the match on Saturday.

Vijay was given out caught behind off the last ball of the fifth over from pacer Morne Morkel. Vijay showed dissent at the decision by pointing at his arm guard as he walked off.

The player was found to have breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match".

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Bruce Oxenford, and third umpire C.K. Nandan after which match referee Jeff Crowe decided the quantum of punishment.
