National Press Day observed in Tripura

The media's role is imperative in strengthening democracy and transparency in governance and improving the quality of life of people, Tripura's Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Bhanulal Saha said here Sunday.

Saha said this while participating in a seminar "Transparency in Public Affairs: The role of the Press", organised at the Agartala Press Club on the occasion of National Press Day.

National Press Day marks the day when the Press Council of India was established as a statutory agency to ensure a free and responsible press.
