Gujarat Chief Minister designate Vijay Rupani on Saturday met Governor O.P. Kohli here to stake claim to form the new government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced on Friday that Rupani was the party's choice as the successor to Anandiben Patel who has resigned as chief minister.
The party also announced that Nitin Patel will be the Deputy Chief Minister.
Anandiben Patel, the first woman Chief Minister of Gujarat, had announced her wish to stand down in a surprise Facebook post on Monday.
