A soldier injured in a gunfight with militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
Defence sources said Sepoy Sukhvinder Singh of the Rashtriya Rifles died in army's base hospital here.
After the soldier's condition deteriorated, he was shifted from army's Drugmulla hospital in Kupwara district to 92 base hospital in Badamibagh area here.
Two soldiers were injured earlier in the day in Keran sector when a patrol party of the Rashtriya Rifles intercepted a group of three-four militants trying to sneak into the state from Pakistan, triggering a gunfight.
