Sun continues to scorch Himachal hills

Himachal Pradesh continued to experience hot weather Tuesday with temperatures in some parts touching 44 degrees Celsius and Shimla recording a high of 30.1 degrees Celsius, seven notches above average.

"Most of the towns recorded a maximum temperature of three to seven notches above the average for this time of the year," an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.

He said heat wave conditions were prevailing in lower parts of Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts.

Una town, located on the Punjab border, was the hottest at 44 degrees Celsius, while it was 35.4 degrees in Dharamsala - 5.5 notches above average, 40.7 degrees in Sundernagar in Mandi district, 30.2 degrees in Manali, and 25.4 degrees in Kalpa town.

 

The Met department said the weather would largely remain dry Wednesday.
