Turkish soldier killed near Syrian border

A Turkish soldier was killed on Thursday in gunfire from the Syrian side of the border in the province of Hatay, officials said.

The incident took place near the Cilvegozu border crossing in the town of Reyhanli, Efe news reported.

A statement from the Hatay governor said that a pistol shot wounded one soldier, who was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
