US Secretary of State John Kerry said the US is considering $1 billion in loan guarantee for Ukraine, media reported Wednesday.
Kerry said the financial aid is part of a planned international assistance for Ukraine and the US will consider other direct aid to the former Soviet republic, Xinhua reported.
He also warned Russia that it would be a "grave mistake" to embark on a military intervention in Ukraine.
"I don't think there should be any doubt whatsoever that any kind of military intervention that would violate the sovereign territorial integrity of Ukraine would be a grave mistake," Kerry was quoted as saying.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday that Russia is undertaking measures to secure safety of its military facilities in Ukraine's Crimea Peninsula where Russian Black Sea fleet is stationed.
