Age-old rivalry

Infighting among the different departments of the finance ministry is not new but it never seems to recede. Recently an official in the economic affairs department was heard complaining that the revenue department was favoured more by the ministry in many cases.

When someone pointed out that it was the economic affairs department that was actually considered more important than revenue, the official smartly replied: “Usually, parents pamper the younger one and give the older one more responsibility.”
