BS Reporter New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah had been talking about wiping out the Congress from the political map. And the inning seems to have started from BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh. The Congress fielded Manturam Pawar to contest the by-election for the Antagarh Assembly seat.

After a while, however, the Congress candidate withdrew his nomination, leaving the party red-faced. A big deal master-minded by the ruling party managers is the talk of the town. The internal feud within the Congress is circulated as another reason. Whatever the cause, the Antagarh by-election in Chhattisgarh was contested without a candidate from the state's main Opposition party.
