Pak's media advisory

Business Standard New Delhi
In the wake of the March 27 terror attack in Lahore, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has issued an advisory to the country's television channels. The advisory notes that "irresponsible or hyper attitude" could have a bad impact on the investigation into the attack.

The interesting part is the advice to avoid telecast "following in the footsteps of (the) Indian media that is driven by crass commercialisation". Instead, the model to follow would be the "professional handling of Brussels attacks by (the) international media".

Television journalists in India are divided on the advisory - some have dismissed it as "laughable"; some others have said the Indian media does need to do some soul-searching.
