A day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won thumping majority in the Delhi Assembly, it reached out to the Narendra Modi-led-National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government to seek co-operation on key issues, including full statehood. Top leaders from the AAP government are likely to meet Modi on Wednesday.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and senior leader Manish Sisodia met union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday morning to discuss issues related to unauthorized colonies, full statehood to Delhi, land acquisition and land utilization for purpose of building schools, colleges, hospitals, etc.

"We discussed four key issues where we would require central government co-operation for the welfare of Delhi leaving behind the political divide," said Sisodia.

Land acquisition in the rural belts is an issue, Sisodia pointed out. "Also the central government passed a resolution on unauthorized colonies and we need to carry it forward by co-operation from authorities such as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Development Authorities (DDA)," Sisodia told reporters after the meeting.

Sisodia further said, "Delhi requires land for building schools, colleges, hospitals and parking. The DDA must allot land for these purposes." The party further sought the central government's co-operation on full statehood.

Kejriwal is likely to meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday evening and has also sought an appointment with union home minister Rajnath Singh. The party will likely meet Modi to give a courtesy call on Wednesday.
