Samajwadi Party today protested in Parliament and outside the alleged attack on its office in Delhi by protesters, who were opposing the ban on VHP yatra in Uttar Pradesh, and claimed it to be the handiwork of BJP.

Delhi Police said that some protesters staged a protest outside the Samajwadi Party office here yesterday and tore posters. They said a complaint has been registered.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav alleged that BJP was resorting to hooliganism and had attacked the party's office in Delhi following crackdown by the UP government on VHP's yatra.

"We know how to stop hooliganism. We have stopped it in the past," he said, accusing BJP of engineering riots.

In the Rajya Sabha, SP members shouted slogans alleging an attack by BJP workers on their Delhi office, a charge strongly refuted by the main opposition party.

The issue forced two adjournments before Zero Hour as Chairman Hamid Ansari's repeated efforts to restore normalcy in the House did not yield any result.

Outside Parliament, SP leader Ram Naresh said it was a "planned attack" by BJP workers and accused the police of not filing an FIR in the case.

"They (BJP) were venting their ire against us as their Ayodhya Yatra turned out to be a fiasco," Aggarwal said and alleged "police are not taking action because Congress and BJP have colluded to attack us in Delhi."

SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said had the office been opened yesterday, the sitution could have been different. "There were chances of serious consequences."

"Because it was a Sunday and the office was closed. Otherwise I am always present in the office on regular days.

"Because the gate was locked so they tried to break open it and signboard was damaged. They also tried to break the gate. People who reside at the servant quarters situated inside called up police," he said.

Yadav rued thatno arrests have been made yet. "They were raising slogans in favour of BJP and against SP and Mulayam Singh. We want action against the culprits," he said.

Police, however, said that a case has been registered on the incident.

"We have already registered a case in this connection yesterday and they (SP) have the copy of the same as well," Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) SBS Tyagi told PTI.
