State assembly election dates announced

Counting of all five states to be on December 8

Assembly election dates for Rajasthan, New Delhi, Mizoram, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh were announced today.

Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said naxal-affected Chhattisgarh will vote first in two phases for its 90 Assembly seats on November 11 and 19. 

The model code of conduct that prohibits policy announcements, inaugurations or foundation stone laying ceremonies, kicks in right away. 

Votes for all five state assemblies to be counted on December 8

 

• Chattisgarh: First to go to polls, will be held in two phases. Elections to be held on November 11 and 19
• Madhya Pradesh: Single phase polls in state, polls will be held on November 25
• Rajasthan: Polls to be held in single phase, elections will be held on December 1
• New Delhi: Polls to be held in single phase, elections will be held on December 4
• Mizoram: Polls to be held in single phase, elections on December 4
