 The Lucknow airport has been renamed as the Chaudary Charan Singh Airport. The Union Cabinet approved the proposal put up by the Ministry of Civil Aviation following requests received from the Uttar Pradesh Government.

</p><p class='TableClas'>Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting the Union Finance Minister Mr. P Chidambaram said: "This decision to rename the airport will honor the sentiments of the people. It will also be a befitting tribute to the late Prime Minister" When asked if the renaming of the airport was to meet the demand of any political parties, Mr. Chidambaram said: "It will ensure smooth take off and landing".
