Ravi Gopinath named MD and CEO of Geometric Software

Mumbai, September 2006 - Geometric Software Solutions (BSE "� 532312, NSE "� GEOMETRIC), announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Ravi Gopinath as the Company's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer . The appointment reflects Geometric's on-going succession planning process and is effective 4th October, 2006. Dr. Ravi Gopinath succeeds Manu Parpia, who will continue serving as Vice Chairman & Executive Director of Geometric.
 
As a result of an extensive global search, Geometric's Board of Directors believes it has chosen an outstanding leader who will guide Geometric's efforts to expand the markets it addresses and seek new opportunities in the growing PLM and engineering services industry around the globe.
 
Manu Parpia as the founder CEO of Geometric, has been the driving force of the Company. He has been responsible for growing the Company from just over 50 people in '94 to over 1800 people today. He took the Company Public in 2000 and has overseen the building of several key relationships with major customers during his tenure. During the transition, Ravi Gopinath will report to Manu Parpia, who will continue to oversee the 3D PLM joint venture and the products businesses of Geometric.

Prior to accepting the position at Geometric, Dr. Gopinath served as head of the Engineering and Industrial Services (EIS) strategic business unit of Tata Consultancy Services Limited.
 
Geometric management will host a media round table on 5th October to introduce the new CEO and will hold financial and industry analyst conference call on 17th October. The details will be communicated individually.
 
Short Profile of Dr. Ravi Gopinath:
 
Dr. Ravi Gopinath headed the Engineering and Industrial Services (EIS) strategic business unit of Tata Consultancy Services Limited from April 2004 "� September 2006. He grew the business substantially during this period, by diversifying its portfolio from primarily PLM and CAx services to a broad based engineering and manufacturing solutions offering including electronic systems development, asset management solutions, shop-floor automation, geospatial technologies and strategic sourcing.
 
Prior to this assignment, Ravi led TCS' Manufacturing Practice from April 2000. He had been with TCS for 12 years and has 17 years of industry experience. He joined TCS in 1994 at its Corporate Research & Development Center in Pune, India.
 
An active researcher, he is the author of several publications and holds two international patents.
 
Ravi graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, with a major in chemical engineering in 1989 and holds a Ph.D. in control systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States, which he obtained in 1994.
