Business establishments, educational institutions, banks and central government offices remained closed, while attendance in state government offices was reported to be nominal, official sources said.
Vehicles were off the roads while a few state transport buses running with escorts.
The bandh was peaceful with security measures in place, Capital Superintendent of Police Hibu Tamang said.
