1 dead, 12 seriously ill after consuming food in madrasa

One student today died and 12 were taken seriously ill after allegedly consuming poisonous food at a hostel of a madrasa here, police said.

Tauwab Ansar (17) of Sahabganj in Jharkhand died allegedly after having food at the hostel of Jamia Asareb Darul Uloom in Nayapur area, police said.

Twelve person, aged between 11 to 18 years, were taken ill and admitted to a hospital. They hail from Nepal and Jharkhand.

The students were taken ill after consuming food and further probe is underway, city magistrate Amritlal Sahu said.
