An post-graduate student was killed and four others, including three of his classmates, were injured when an app cab carrying them crashed into the median divider of a flyover here this morning, police said.
The students were on their way to a national-level eligibility test for PhD programme at New Town from their hostel in the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) campus at Shibpur.
The car rammed into the median divider after descending from Maa flyover onto the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, injuring the four students and the driver of the vehicle, police said.

While Sayantan Biswas died after being taken to a hospital, the four others are under treatment, an officer investigating the accident said, adding that the cause of the crash was being probed.
Describing the four students as very talented and well-behaved, IIEST director Ajoy Roy told PTI that Sayantan was the son of a child specialist doctor from Krishnagar in Nadia district.
"The four are students of MSc (Physics). They were going to New Town to appear for Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) when they met with the accident," Roy said.
