11 injured in blast outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly in Pakistan

At least 11 people were injured when an explosives-laden autorickshaw went off outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and Peshawar High Court here on Monday, according to media reports.

About 5 kg explosive material was fitted in an autoriskshaw in an improvised explosive device, Police Officer Muhammad Ali Gandapur was quoted as saying by The Dawn newspaper.

The bomb exploded outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and Peshawar High Court.

All 11 injured persons, which included a police officer, were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. One of the injured is in critical condition, the report said.

Earlier, the police suspected the explosion was caused the explosion of a cylinder blast.

 

However, officials later collected ball bearings, fragments of magnet and the device from the site, The Express Tribune reported.

A similar blast rocked Lahore's Chauburji area in November. In the incident, the explosive was fitted in a rickshaw. Ten people were injured in the incident.
