12 seriously injured in factory blaze

At least 12 people were seriously injured when a massive fire broke out at a pipe manufacturing factory in the industrial area here today.

Several fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was controlled by around 3 PM, Assistant Police Commissioner, Jalandhar, Avnit Kaundal said.

Earlier, the police had said that 12 factory workers had died in the blaze.

"12 factory workers are seriously injured in the fire," Kaundal later said.

"The reason behind the fire is not known and we are probing it," the officer said. Injured have been admitted to city hospitals, he said.
